With LED technology, it's due to the nature of the LED, much easier to produce very accurate radiation patters the with conventional lightsources such as halogen or high pressure sodium.
To test some of the possibilities in real life, a LED projector was built and used to gain inspiration for new LED aplications

The Fluxbin is a concept for an easy and cheap to produce LED luminarie that has a high quality radiation pattern and CRI.
The casing is used for cooling, whilst highly lambertian foil on part of the inside & primairy diffusor provide a very comfortable light.

The Wood Lamp, (not to be confused with Wood's lamp) is a concept for a LED lamp that is made from discarded LCD computer monitors and wood. Building the lamp also involved development of some tooling, as the exterior foil is part of the structural integrity.
